Heal Your Gut, Heal Your Hormones

There are typically 3 categories of people when it comes to gut health. CATEGORY 1: The Newbie

  • This is you if you have no idea what I am talking about when I say "gut health"

CATEGORY 2: The Up & Coming

  • This is you if you have heard of gut health, done a little research, and possibly started taking a probiotic as a result of said research

CATERGORY 3: The Informed

  • This is you if you have researched gut health in-depth, and you are actively working on improving your gut health. You probably have heard the terms dysbiosis, lactobacillus and leaky-gut... to name a few

No matter which category you fall into, I am here to help guide you! I was a newbie for most of my life. I had no idea what gut health was... and my idea of health in general was following the USDA's food pyramid and avoiding fat. When I shifted my focus from arbitrary food rules to actually healing my gut and other body systems, everything changed. Here's what happened:

  • First and foremost, all of my hormonal symptoms went away, and STAYED AWAY.

  • The gas and bloating I suffered from daily, that even put me in the hospital twice, ... GONE.

  • Brain fog that was so intense I struggled to recall basic words... GONE.

  • Constant fatigue... GONE.

  • Irregular periods... GONE.

So how exactly did I do it?

Step 1

  • Avoid refined carbohydrates and sugars. To keep it simple, "bad" gut bacteria feed on these sugars... so by eating them you are essentially keeping the bad guys around.

Step 2

  • Drink bone broth. Bone broth contains gelatin and the amino acid glutamine, which help to repair the intestinal lining and reduce inflammation in the gut. You can make your own, or try this one from Kettle and Fire, made from organic, grass-fed cows.
